Open Auditions

The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of John Page, is a community orchestra comprising over 60 volunteer players from the greater seacoast area of New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. This season we celebrate our 20th anniversary and are seeking experienced and committed classical musicians.

Current Openings

The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra offers a unique, high-level performance opportunity for musicians through a diverse ensemble of professionals, educators, advanced students, and devoted amateurs. The orchestra presents four major performances at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 6:30-9:00 PM.

Currently the orchestra has openings for the following positions:

  • All instruments substitute/auxiliary musicians
  • All section strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass (rotational seating)
  • Woodwind member seats: Clarinet
  • Brass member seats: Horn
  • Percussion member seat
