At what age did you start playing the instrument you play in the PSO? Did you learn another instrument first?
I was 10 when I started playing the trumpet. My first instrument was piano, second was violin. Trumpet was my third.
Why did you choose your current instrument?
There was an older kid I looked up to who played trumpet, so when it came time to pick a band instrument for school I picked the trumpet.
How long have you played with the PSO?
At first I was brought in to play with the PSO only for Holiday Family Pops! concerts, starting in 2014. Then in 2016, I played the education concert and Swan Lake in Prescott Park. I began playing full time in 2017 when I met a certain PSO cellist who would become my wife.
Where do you live?
Exeter, New Hampshire.
Do you play with any other groups?
Portsmouth Brass Quintet, and occasionally with Symphony By The Sea.
What do you like about playing with a symphony orchestra?
The different colors that great orchestral composers create.
How do you spend your time outside of the PSO?
I am the Training and Knowledge Manager at GN Audio, a Danish company that includes brands such as Jabra, BlueParrott, and SteelSeries, but my greatest joy is spending time with my son, Ives.
