How old were you when you started playing the trumpet? Why trumpet?
Trumpet was my first instrument. My father started giving me lessons when I was eight. Both he and my grandfather were trumpet players.
What is your favorite piece to play on trumpet?
Definitely the Arutiunian Trumpet Concerto, although Arban’s Carnival of Venice is a close second.
Do you play with other groups?
Occasionally with the Portsmouth Brass Quintet, and Symphony by the Sea. I also served four years as a musician in the United States Marine Corps.
Tell us about your musical education.
I have a BM in Music Education from UNH. I’ve taken lessons from many teachers over the years, including Jay Daly and Dr. Robert Stibler.
How do you spend your time outside of the PSO?
I pay the bills doing application support in the software industry, but my free time is mostly spent reading, gaming, and lots of running. It is my goal to run my first marathon in 2025.
