Played with the PSO since: 1997
How old were you when you started playing the violin? Did you learn another instrument first?
I was 10, the summer after 5th grade, in a basement storage room of what was the old high school downtown, now the Keefe House.
I had five years of piano before violin. Later, I also played tenor sax in the PHS Marching Band.
Why did you choose your current instrument?
Actually it was my mother’s idea, so was piano.
What do you like about playing with a symphony orchestra?
Oh my gosh I love everything about it! It’s such an honor and a joy to play the best music in the world.
What is your favorite piece to play on your instrument?
I have loved most everything we have done, don’t have a specific favorite piece.
Beyond musician, do you serve in any additional role(s) with the PSO?
I joined the PSO Board when it was established in 1998, as concert manager, which was a fun job! Then I was the fourth President from 2004-2007. During that time we adopted our current name, and began playing in The Music Hall thanks to conductor Philip Lauriat. I am the last original member still performing with the orchestra!
How do you spend your time outside of the PSO?
Enjoying the easy life after a 48 year career in physical therapy. I like to spend my time doing genealogy research.
