2022-2023 Family Matinees Series
Chamber music concerts for the whole family
Chamber music is a wonderful way for people of all ages to experience the delights, joys and range of emotions that classical music can evoke.
As part of the PSO’s ongoing mission to encourage the audiences and musicians of today and tomorrow, we are please to announce “Family Matinees,” a series of three chamber music concerts in 2023 expressly geared towards families and youth.
Each performance, which features members of the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra will also include a special guest performance by youth string musician from the PSO’s Stringendo program.
On January 21, the PSO Brass Quintet will delight music lovers of all ages with familiar favorites from the stage and screen.
The Brass Quintet is made up of:
- Adam Gallant, trumpet
- Greg Bechtold, trumpet
- Orlando Pandolfi, horn
- Brandon Newbould, tenor trombone
- Jim Griswold, bass trombone and tuba
Violinist Julie Stevens will be the special guest performer at this month’s Family Matinees concert, performing Violin Concerto No. 9 by Charles DeBeriot.
Julie started playing the violin at five years old and has been playing for 12 years. She has performed with the UNH Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Musical Youth of the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra. She has auditioned and been accepted into Allstate all four years of high school and just recently auditioned for a music performance degree in college. Julie loves classical music but occasionally fiddles with friends and family. She is excited to be fiddling in Ireland this spring.
